Privacy Policy

Who we are

Makesite is a service of Durrbaum Mobile Technology Solutions, Cape Town, South Africa ("we", "us"). We build one-off static websites from the brief you submit at makesite.co.za. Contact: hello@makesite.co.za.

What we collect

• Brief details — your name, email address, phone number, business information, wedding/event details, and any text you type into the form.
• Uploads — logo and photos you attach to the brief.
• Email verification — a one-time code confirms you own the email address before the full form opens.
• WhatsApp consent — if you opt in, we record your WhatsApp number, the consent wording/version, and the date and time consent was received. The option is not pre-selected.
• Prospect record — after successful email verification, we create or update a CRM record containing your name, verified email address, selected website type, WhatsApp number (if supplied), and consent status and timestamp.
• Campaign attribution — if you arrive through a recognised Makesite campaign link, we store only its approved short code with your verified website enquiry so we can measure that campaign. We do not store the full URL, and this is not marketing consent.
• Free Link Pack tool — the business name, area, WhatsApp number and optional description entered into the Link Pack stay in your browser and are used only to generate your result on that device. We do not receive, upload or store those values when you create a pack. We measure only anonymous tool actions, never the details you type.
• Anonymous website analytics — page visits, general device and location information, campaign tags, use-case and example choices, intake CTA clicks, and funnel-stage events such as reaching the form, verifying an email, submitting a brief, or progressing through the included change round. We do not send your name, email address, phone number, verification code, site reference, API key, form text, uploads, or submission identifier to analytics.

How we use it

Only to deliver the service: building your website, emailing you the preview link and quote, processing payment, following up on your enquiry, and helping you claim and support your site. If you opt in to WhatsApp, we may message you there about your enquiry, verification, build progress, preview, payment and support. This opt-in does not cover unrelated marketing. You can withdraw it at any time by replying STOP. Content you provide (text, photos, contact details) appears on the website we build for you — that is the point of the service. We do not sell your information or use it for third-party marketing.

Third parties involved

• here.now — hosts the preview and final website under its own terms and privacy practices.
• Paystack — processes payment; we never see or store your card details.
• GitHub — your site's code (including brief content that appears on the site) is stored in a private repository during the build.
• Umami Cloud — provides privacy-focused, cookie-free website analytics so we can understand campaign performance and identify where visitors encounter problems.

Form submissions on your finished site

If your site collects RSVPs, bookings or enquiries, those submissions are stored with your site on here.now and belong to you. Visitors can submit entries but cannot view anyone else's; entries are readable only by the site owner.

Retention

If you don't claim your site, the preview expires automatically and we delete the working copy of your brief and uploads within a reasonable period. We retain a limited prospect and consent record where reasonably needed to manage your enquiry, honour opt-outs, demonstrate consent, and meet legal obligations. If you do claim your site, we keep the build and contact records needed to support you.

Your rights (POPIA)

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act you may ask us at any time what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@makesite.co.za and we'll respond promptly.
